Maha Shivaratri
Evening Program
Date: Saturday 13th March, 2021 Time: 4.00-9pm Venue: Aranyaka, Mangrove Mt (NSW) Cost: $95 (including dinner) Book here With Gangadhara and Swami Dharmananda Join us for Maha Shivaratri celebrations, including: chanting, havan, meditation, bhajan, kirtan and story to imbibe, contemplate and experience the pure nature of the universal soul. At the time of Maha Shivaratri, we come together in the spirit of sadhana, focusing on the auspicious consciousness that dwells within - a force known as 'Shiva'. And it is said that at the time of Maha Shivaratri, consciousness descends from the most pure dimension into our earthly, material existence. (In contrast, we usually make an effort to raise energy to meet this pure consciousness.) So in Shivaratri, with consciousness descending, this changes the dynamics of our meditation practice, making it an optimum and unique time for powerful sadhana and transformation. As yogis, we find an immense attraction and natural longing to come closer to what is represented by the form of Shiva. In yogic history, Shiva is the Adi Guru, the first teacher who embodies the pure nature of benevolence and transcendence. In the spirit of tantra, we draw on specific tools to learn, experience and awaken our hearts and minds to Shiva, made more easily possible when we come together in purity, sincerity and the spirit of sadhana. Our unique forest location at Aranyaka is a highly conducive environment for such endeavours in sadhana, and we look forward to being together at this most auspicious time of year.
