It is with great honour, humility and joy that we are bringing forth the Mahavidya Sadhana, a program initiated by our beloved guide and mentor, Swami Satyadharma Saraswati.

In essence, the Mahavidya Sadhana contains deep knowledge that points towards the mystery of the entire spectrum of play between the universal consciousness and energy - from the unmanifest to the manifest. Maha means 'great' and Vidya means 'inner knowledge'. This inner knowledge is awakened through the sadhana itself, as a direct experience of tantra (liberation of energy and expansion of consciousness) using the tantric tools of mandala, mantra and yantra.

The Mahavidyas are a collection of dasa (ten) ancient forms of the Divine Mother, all emanating from the one great creative force: shakti. It is this primordial shakti which carries both the subtle energy and consciousness forward to manifest, sustain and dissolve creation. By leaning into, exploring, learning and practising, we begin to develop an intimate relationship with different shades of creation that are manifesting within us, around us and beyond us.

Tara

Tara is the second Goddess we awaken through the Mahavidya Sadhana.

Tara is the eternal light, guiding us across the ocean of samskaras.

Her mantra is Om Hrim Strim Hum Phat.

She is also the Shakti of Shiva's form - known as Akshobhya.

Tara casts the colour of blue hues that evolve from the deep black light beyond luminosity of Kali.

Aspects of the Sadhana

As part of Mahavidya Sadhana, we'll also be drawing on story, symbology, philosophy, meditation and the main part of the tantric sadhana: havan. In this context, the havans are unique, as are the mantras of each goddess and the power of energy which is liberated through the tools of tantra. Each havan will be an extended one, requiring full engagement from all participants.

We will also be sharing in ecstatic kirtan, bhajan, art and forest time!

Aranyaka (forest space venue)

All are welcome to attend the Mahavidya Sadhana, an important, unique and ancient practice that cannot be performed in many locations. Aranyaka is the perfect home for this sadhana and we're overjoyed that the Mahavidyas have returned to us in full force in this special setting. Aranyaka is a unique and secluded forest location at Mangrove Creek, free from all forms of pollution, built and maintained in the spirit of pure yoga in harmony with nature. Read more about Aranyaka space here.

About your teachers

Gangadhara has developed a profound understanding and clarity in bringing the essence of the Mahavidyas into the present experience - and through meditation, a more subtle understanding from within. She is joined by much-loved and knowledgeable Swami Dharmananda to unpack the breadth and depth of symbology, awaken the bhava and learn more about the qualities of these revered ancient and divine forms of the goddesses as they are depicted in the subtle yantras.
